History

Doug Glover quit his job sold his home and moved into a small two-bedroom duplex to follow his dream of building an internet game company. Six years later (and still living in the duplex) Doug's company was joined by former CEO and founder of internet mega-giant, Photobucket, Alex Welch, who helped attract three million dollars in funding to build the world’s best 3D browser game.

In 2002, Doug Glover quit his job, sold his big home and moved his wife and two young children into a small two-bedroom duplex. Why would he do this? "To follow his dream," says wife and corporate cheerleader, Michelle Glover. "I knew Doug wasn't happy practicing law, and he had a calling to create a secret agent product for children. Something where it would teach kids to live an adventurous life. If I'd known how difficult it would be I might have given it a second thought, but here we are, seven years later, with something great for kids. I couldn't wish for anything different."

Doug left the family legal practice and agreed to stay home with the kids, take care of the rentals and dogs and build a unique product for children. For her part, Michelle, mostly out of support for the project, (while fearing poverty and starvation) opted to go back to work.

"I'm not sure what magic happens when you follow your dreams," says Michelle. "People and events just started showing up to help us. Right away, we found Zeroweb in Australia. They took everything Doug was working on and turned it into a world class game. Now we have a team that is taking the game to a new level."

Doug and Michelle's savings were spent to create the companies' first game, www.SCAPSAgent.com, a product with graphics as good as a disc, but played through a web browser. "The team is excited by the technology and techniques developed as they are being used to build the best browser game in the world, played by almost anyone, anytime, anywhere," says Doug. "At the beginning, I had no idea it would go this far, but at this point, I don't know of any other semi-streaming games out there with graphics and content as good as this."

With interactive comic books, downloads, multiplayer missions and a whole host of other nifty concepts, the small game company caught the eye of Alex Welch, CEO of and founder of mega internet giant, Photobucket.com. "I was impressed with the work that Doug and his team were doing," says Welch. "The fact that they created a graphically intense 3D game that runs in a web browser intrigued me greatly. They also had many interesting concepts where the target market could be contacted directly and where social sites could be used for viral growth. I believe in the product; I've invested in the game and am working as the companies’ Chief Strategic Officer."

The company, now named Slime Sandwich, Inc. has relocated to Greenwood Village, Co to be closer to Welch and to attract game building talent. “We have a very dedicated team that works long hours, but they love what they do and they are producing something great. We couldn’t be doing this without Trent, Joe, Alex, Eric and Patrick," says Glover.

When describing the game, Glover says, "SCAPS Agent is a next-generation online video game that targets the substantially untapped $50 billion tween market of boys ages 12-14. It is an online economic and social subscriber-based RPG and FPS. The Players are thrust into the role of a renegade agent-trainee of the near future caught up in a viral outbreak and techno-war that will pit Man vs. mutant soldier. Think of it like Spy Kids meets Indiana Jones meets Mission Impossible with an X-Files twist. Agents can receive secret missions directly onto a iPhone type device installed directly on their computer, go on 3D missions, play 2D games, text friends, receive multimedia books and comics, listen to adventures, download activities and secret projects, chat with other Agents and compete in massive multiplayer and casual on-line games - all while earning virtual cash to purchase virtual loot."

The story-line is written by Marvel Comics author, Michael Lent and is presented in cliff-hanger multimedia installments. Agents actually participate in the story when they accept missions. The SCAPS Secret Website earns money primary through paid subscriptions and secondarily through advertising and product sales.

The hook is similar to Club Penguin - the Agent can play a world class game for free, but will amass so much virtual cash that the Agent will want to purchase a membership in order to spend the cash, buy virtual items, receive exclusive content and take his game experience to another level.

The original storyline and content has been tailored to translate into movie and/or television productions with accompanying products and promotions.
